Internal Organizer
An internal organizer plays a critical role in building and strengthening a union from within the workplace. Unlike external organizers who focus on bringing new workers into the union, internal organizers work directly with current members to increase engagement, develop leaders, and ensure workers are active in defending their rights.
Their main responsibility is to build strong communication and relationships among members. They help identify workplace issues, mobilize workers around campaigns, support contract enforcement, and train stewards and leaders. Internal organizers also help create a culture where members understand that the strength of the union depends on their participation.
By encouraging involvement, organizing meetings, and coordinating collective actions, internal organizers help transform passive members into active advocates for their workplace and community.
